10 Resources window (intro)
Effects, transitions, clips, and assets are accessed here. Most of the resources are inserted into the project by dragging them out of the resource window. Management of resource allocation is also performed here.
10.1 Navigating the resources
The resource window is divided into two areas. One area lists folders and another area lists folder contents. Going into the folder list and clicking on a folder updates the contents area with the contents of that folder.
The Clip Tab (folder) stores all the clips created on your program. The folder offers the exact same behaviour as the Asset Manager (see below), but you get to choose from a list of clips rather than raw files. You can edit the titles and comments of your clips in the Clips folder. Right click on a clip out of media asset and select 'Info…'.
The Media Tab (Asset Manager) lists all loaded media in your project.
The folder and contents can be displayed as icons or text.
Right clicking on any white space in the folder or contents area brings up a menu containing formatting options.
Select Display text to display a text listing. Select Sort items to sort the contents of the folder alphabetically, based on their original file name.
Depending on this "view mode" assets will appear on the screen either as text labels or icons representing assets.
Display Icons will display a small image of the first video frame on the asset, this feature can be very convenient when looking for files.
The asset info window displays detailed information about the selected media file. To access it, go to the asset manager folder (the Media Tab of the Resources Window) and right click on the label or icon of the file you are interested on. An asset menu will appear, then click on Info.
Let us consider in more detail the Asset’s Menu
Right-Clicking on any "asset" offers the following menu:
- Display Text/Icons Toggle — Same as described above.
- Info — Displays the media Asset Info window, with detailed information about the selected file (described above).
- Sort items — Same as described above.
- Rebuild index — Rebuild index files (for more info about index files look at Preferences -> Interface)
- View — Load the selected file on the Viewer window for display. (TIP: Double clicking on any asset icon provides the same result)
- Paste — Pastes the selected file on the first active track of it’s type on the program window (timeline).
- Match project size — Adjusts the Output Size of your project to match the dimensions of this asset.
- Match frame rate — Adjusts the frame rate of your project to match the frame rate of this asset.
- Remove from project — Removes the file from the project, but it does not affects the original media on your system. (TIP: You can always reload the assets a later time from their same location on the disk.)
- Remove from disk — Removes the selected file from the system disk. Caution: this choice will completly delete the file from your system’s disk.
